  • Happy Tummy

My Ah Ha! Moments generally arrive mid-walk, mid-bike ride or mid-night, when I am completely indulging in the secret language of daydreaming. My artwork will often be triggered by an inspiring quote or a lingering song lyric, sometimes just a few words strung together will set off a series of images and animations in my mind.

Happy Tummy is a simple reminder to smile and to enjoy the journey of life… even when your feet are off the ground! It seemed only appropriate to name the picture in honor of my local restaurant, Happy Tummy, given every sighting of the shops sign gives me that happy feeling inside as I ride past ☺

The pleasure parts of my brain go crazy for color, for kitsch and sparkles, for the ridiculous, the thoughtful, the playful and cheeky, the fluoro, painful and magical. I’m fascinated by Synesthesia – particularly the idea that people can experience the association of letters and numbers with colors. I’m excited to experience and keep exploring the effects of color on the brain and color as a form of healing. I have a strong connection to color, which extends to not only my work, but also to my walls, clothes and everybody I meet! Reflecting back on my life I can see that I’ve left a rainbow/fluoro trail behind me.

I love the quote by William Arthur Ward, “If you can imagine it, you can achieve it; if you can dream it, you can become it.” I create pictures of things that fill me with pleasure in the hope that, by creating them on paper, I’m actually setting in motion the release of my dreams into the visible world.
